Sidney (Sid) R. Dual is a traditional and digital artist from Southern California who now resides in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She currently attends the Tyler School of Art and Architecture at Temple University, pursuing a BFA in Graphic Design.
Sid uses a wide variety of medias including gouache, watercolor, ink, and graphite in order to create art that represents her and her community. She strives to represent black people in art in ways that are not commonly seen. Using color, composition, and line as tools, she reflects on moments in her life that were seemingly insignificant but played a big role in her life and the lives of those around her. The deep saturation of color throughout her portfolio evokes emotion and nostalgia in viewers as they attempt to identify themselves through her work.
